Kids Inline Skates Size Adjustability

Inline skates for kids are size adjustable so that they can accompany the fast growing feet of children. Their usual range is between EU 28-42 and per pair the size adjustability can range from 3 to 6 EU sizes. There are three main ways to adjust the size on kids skates.

Adjusting kids inline skates with the push button

The most popular way is by use of a push button. This button can often be found on the outside of the skate around the ankle area. When it is pushed in, it will be possible to pull the front of the skate either more out to make the skate bigger or more in to make it smaller. Many skates will also have an numerical indication on the front of the skate so that you can see on which size the skate is currently at. Furthermore usually the liner has a stretchable toe area so besides the push of the button nothing else is needed to change the size. Some models however have a two piece liner which needs to be taken out of the shell and made a bit bigger, usually through a Velcro system around the heel area.

Adjusting kids inline skates with the 3-in-1 insole

The 3-in-1 insole system changes the size of the skate by adding or taking out one of the inner soles in the skate. By taking out an insole the skate becomes bigger and by placing an extra insole the skate becomes smaller. It is a very simple system and since the skate doesn’t have adjustable parts it is usually built stronger.

Adjusting kids inline skates by loosening the frame screws

This system is most often found on aggressive inline skates for kids. To adjust the size on these skates you will need to loosen up the two screws which mount the frame to the boot. Make sure to not loosen them up completely because it can be difficult to put the skate back together after. Just loosening them a bit should give the front of the skate the space to move a bit to the front or back to change the size.

An example of a skate with this system is the: USD Transformer.
